Strikes Garden Centre

This was a hard weekend for the team, it seemed like all we did was fit, remove wheels and load the truck. It went very well though and all the kids loved the size and noise of the truck. Around 5000 people came to see us over the two days and it couldn't have worked out better for the staff and the centres who were rushed off their feet to keep the customers flowing through the stores. We didn't have much time for pictures over the weekend but click here for a direct link to the gallery.

2004 Calender

We've had a number of bookings come in over the last month, a few confirmed and some provisional to be confirmed. The calender is looking pretty full now with a number of double bookings that we have contracted out to other trucks, as the events get confirmed they will go on the site so check in regularly to see when we're in your area.

Crew News

Joey - We've just had contact from the AWOL Joey, He's in the Andes at about 10,000' at the moment, soon to ascending to a cloud forest 4,500m above sea level! He's just picked up his transport for the next two months - a mule. We'll keep you informed and hopefully we'll put the pictures up when he returns. Its alright for some.

Donnington Truck GP

We attended the Donnington truck GP on the 9th of November, sorry there was no warning on the site about that. We attended the show in association with R D Gill transport who put on a custom truck show at the event. This gave the 'new' scania her first outing and thankfully all went well. Joey will have to spend a bit more time under the dash to sort a few switches out. Joey or Floyd did not attend the event.

Scania

As expected it wasn't long before the Scania's previous owner, a Mr Brian Dobson made himself aware to us. This gave us a lot more background on the truck and it's history. A gallery will be going up shortly as we develop the truck back to show stamndard. If you would like to see your products associated with the truck and team then please get in touch.

We're back on track with the updates again - sorry it fell behind - we've been under a lot of pressure to secure the future of the truck and team but are now more than happy to announce that all is well for the coming season and now have lots of other news:

Crew News

Shoulders, Completed HND in July and worked stupid hours over the summer, I'm now back in Preston topping my HND up to a BA Honours in Sports Management with Motorsports.

Rivet, is now known to the team as 'Pop Rivet' due to the addition of a new family member. Louise was born in, in, erm, a couple of months ago anyway.

Joey, went AWOL, apparently he's in a rainforrest somewhere.

Floyd, killed lots of rats over summer, very happy dog. Then had her dew claws removed due to a ratting injury.

Tractor Unit

The team are now the proud owners of a Scania 143M Topliner. This will be used to transport the monster around the country, check out the pictures in the library! Many thanks go out to Steve Murty for the loan of his Cargo throughout the past season. The Scania is a former Truckfest Peterborough working show truck winner (so we've been told). It was last operated by Nigel Williams of Kings Lynn. The truck was off the road due to electrical problems, these have been sorted by Joey and the truck is now fully operational. We plan to get the truck back up to show standard for the next season, look out for it at the shows.

Showmans Show Report

On the 22nd and 23rd October Michael and Joey attended the Showmans Show at Newbury. Thanks go out to Peter Johnson Entertainments who gave us space on the best pitch at the show. Thanks to this we have managed to gather a number of bookings for the coming season. Also in attendance at the show was Steve with his Backdraft wheelie truck who was demonstrating the truck in his own arena, in pouring rain thanks to Trax Portable Access, who provided Steve with portable flooring to beat the weather.

Santa's Coming to Town!

Big Pete has been commisioned by William Strike Ltd to give Rudolph a break for a weekend. The truck is to deliver Santa to two garden centres at Knutsford, Cheshire and Harwarden, Deeside. Check out the events page for more details.

Upside Down Club

The crew will soon be starting up 'The Upside Down Club' A select group of people who have all found themselves the wrong way up in a car, usually causing embarrasment and mockery. All the crew have joined the club over the past few years, the most recent being Joey who 'just wanted to know what it felt like'!

We are going to set up a album for your membership proof and at the end of the season the enrty we deem funniest will recieve a drive in Big Pete. Joey is clearly in the lead (he rolled a Micra) so far but doesn't count as it was staged. The rest of us suffered greatly to join the club. Genuine entries only please.

Big Pete is to make an appearance at the Yorkshire Trucking Spectacular. It will appear in Andy Scott's painting display. The new artwork for Big Pete's doors will be completed and unveiled at the show. Plans are also underway for a new graphic scheme for the front end of the truck. More on this coming soon!
